Any idea who owns what -- in particular the coasters?

RC48 and Comet II are Wade's. Comet II was previously owned by Murphy Bros. Wade previously brought their Zyklon and Wacky Worm here too, so I would expect that those rides will be their's. You can tell if it is Wade's Zyklon based on the color scheme; they just heavily rehabbed it, painted it green and yellow, and it'll probably say "Crazy Cat" on it. Western Mouse (at least in 2011) was booked in from Reithoffer and in a thread where I GOTS SERVED~ was established to be a Wacky Worm. I think that's all of them.

Thanks. Looks like eight in total, but there may be some duplicates in there.

I'm trying to avoid an accidental #2000 on a Wacky Worm :)

Well, perhaps -- but I think I'd like to have something a little more worthwhile. Given the choice, I think I might just have to target White Lightning...

BTW, the Central Florida Fair may have overlap for you. Strates historically provides the midway there.

Osceola one always overlaps the FSF. Never been to the Osceola one though... Worth it? I've done the central Florida fair though, and that was decent, even had Space Roller one year.

In fact, I'll need to go back and find it again at some point, because I'm
not sure if I still have my handwritten list, and I still haven't updated
my coaster list for this year.

Actually, for you, Richard, I kind of think that the Wacky Worm would be
appropriate. I mean, what percentage of your list are worms? ;-)

There are probably only one or two people on the planet with more wacky
worm credits than you!

It's quite small. I did it last year. They had two credits, but I'd have
to go check back into last year's thread to remember what they were. Not a
very impressive selection of flats either, especially after having been to
the FSF days earlier. And not a huge food selection either. But again, it
was maybe 10-15% the size of the FSF, so it wasn't going to seem impressive
after that.

I know what the title of the newsgroup is, but it would sure be nice if
people who are kind enough to compile and post stuff like that would
list *all* the rides and shows. Man does not live by airtime alone
(well, some of us, anyway).

I agree. Especially when it comes to flats, fairs rule! Coasters are usually just credits at fairs (the only super good one I ever rode at a fair is the hi Miler). I need to know about things like Space Roller and other unique rides!

Hmmm from what I read elsewhere the TopSpin is actually the TopSpin 2 that was at Astroland in New York during that park's last year or two in operation (and I think was an independent attraction at Coney Island for a year before that). I remember that one as being really good (of course that's all operator choice).

Also, according to their Facebook page, armband days have been recently expanded to include Saturdays. This is not mentioned on the regular website though. Can anyone confirm this? I'd love to go Saturday, since I won't have to worry about getting up early for work the next day, since I'll be staying late, but want to be sure it's an armband day.

Question for the locals.

I'm going to drop in on the Florida State Fair, but I'm also looking at three other possible stops while I'm in the area:

- Highlands County Fair
- Hardee County Fair
- Osceola County Fair

Anyone got any concrete information on credits with those three?

Wade Shows have their Florida State Fair list up but none of the other operators seem to.

Thanks in advance.

And.... For what its worth, the fair is now open but had a pretty rough start. Comet II, RC48, Hot Cat, Speed, Topspin, and Tango all failed to open...... At all. Enterprise was down but seen cycling, not sure if it was open in the afternoon, I saw it running but it could have just been testing. It was closed for sure the whole night.

No love for Fighter?

Add Fighter and Wade's Twister to the list of No-Shows.

Also, hopefully this issue will get straightend out before the weekend, but none of the Ops appeared to get any sort of training from the Fairgrounds regarding the use of scanners for tickets and armbands. We were turned away from Rip Tide when the scanner "broke" (which turns out they just couldn't figure out that "Armband" was the message they were supposed to be looking for.

I'll be going on Sunday. Was originally going to go tomorrow but would rather go on a day of less iffy (and less chilly) weather, even if it means not getting a full nights sleep Sunday night for work on Monday. Hopefully that extra time gets them more time to iron stuff out.

Looking forward to Space Roller, Magnum, TopSpin2, and Comet II the most. Not sure if there are any other credit coasters for me though....

I'm at the fair now, and the fact that they have to scan armbands definitely slows stuff down. Some of the bigger rides like Magnum and Comet II have a different person scanning toward the front of the ride so that by the time you get to the load area you just go in. The Jungle Of Fun fun house closed down when their scanner get to get rebooted.

Who owns the Comet II and what model ride is it? I'm pretty impressed with that coaster for a portable coaster.

I'll give a fuller report later or tomorrow.

Did you ask them at the ride? At the fair last year, I found that the ride
ops didn't know much about the rides, but they knew who they worked for!

David, no I didn't ask, but most of the rides there have a sign or is written in a sign or plate or something there. That's the only coaster that didn't have one that I could see.

I'm surprised it's Wade! All their rides definitely have their names on them.

Was there a Comet I?

Wade bought it from Murphy Brothers, who bought it from Six Flags, who obtained it from the purchase of Old Indiana Fun Park. Murphy Bros brought it to the State Fair of Texas, where much like the North Georgia Fairgrounds does now, the coaster was operated during the fair and left standing after the fair was over as "storage". The coaster eventually came down, and I believe was taken with them when they went to China in 2005, and was being set up regularly at independent midways the last few years. Last year Wade announced its intentions to add a third large steel coaster, and this was it. Murphy Bros. still owns the Tulsa midway (I think?) and books other people's equipment in some places but otherwise doesn't really exist so much anymore.
