*** Is this something new? I have never heard of this. This sounds like
a great day for non-gays to attend as well because all the homo-pobics will
NOT attend, hopefully making the lines shorter.

In any case, I think we agree.

I've never heard of this either. I'm sure it's not official, rather it's
probably something like the gays do at Disneyworld every year. I doubt the
parks like activities like gay day. I heard that the gays for the Disney gay
day were supposed to have worn a certain color shirt. The Disney people had
workers at the gate giving away free tshirts to people who happened to have
worn the same color shirt as the gays so that those people wouldn't feel
uncomfortable.

*** Hi Daved,
Sorry the missing `h' was a typo. I was getting timed out and
didn't have time to check for errors. Here in Canada I usually do see the
word hyphenated, though.

It may not be official .. Did you witness the workers at Disney
handing out T-shirts? As Disney, I would hate to think that I would
do something to offend 10% (or more) of the population (worldwide)!!
Why would anyone feel uncomfortable wearing the same color T-shirt as
a homosexual person? My only guess would be that that person is
unsure of their own sexuality .. Very few folks go to an amusement
park alone. If you aren't gay, then you will probably be with a
friend or a significant other .. I doubt that anyone would "hit" on
you ...
I personally support the rights of all minorities .. I wouldn't think
twice if I had the same color shirt on as that of an Asian American,
African American, or a Russian....
I seriously doubt if Disney looks down on Gays visiting their park ..
Their money spends the same as anyone elses..... Just my $.02
rambling ..

Well, frankly, it probably won't impact on the phobes, since it's
unlikely that CP would be promoting this! I doubt they'd even tell
people about it. It's probably organized by an outside group (like
Disney World's), which probably does its own promotion in the gay
press.
I can't imagine CP, or ANY park, warning people in advance who might
NOT want to come! Not exactly good for buisiness. I just hope they
don't do anything nasty, like post signs warning people when they get
there and distancing themselves from the event. Disney has done that
in the past. Now it's one of their busiest days! (probably from the
publicity from the controversy over the Christian Coalition's
picketing and boycott!)
I doubt that the general public will even know about it until they
show up, unless there's some controversy.
But don't expect any ERT!!!
I hope that CP has extra security on that day!

Just for the record, Disney's (WDW) "unofficially official" Gay Day this
year is Saturday, June 1. Last year, a bunch of gay Disney employees (off
duty) greeted us once inside the gates of the Magic Kingdom, to welcome us
and to tell us about how crowded Pleasure Island would be that night (it
was!) and to get there early.

There are some parks that have no problem promoting this. I live in the
Denver area and see signs for gay day at Elitch's ( an official event, I
believe) every year. If anyone has any more info on this as far as
whether this is an official event, please post. I assume it's official,
but I could be wrong. Anyway, like I said, I see advertisements for it
around the Denver area.
I also recall reading that Disney asked the organizers NOT to go with
a specific color last year and that it probably wasn't necessary since
there were tens of thousands of gays there.
Also, I recall reading that the first few years Disney put out a sign
warning people about outside organizers having a gay day there and
officially stating that they had no part in it. Strangely enough, I
don't recall reading about them doing this at the fundamentalist
Christian events there!
Note that even with Disney distancing itself from the event, there
were radical right protesters outside the event. They are now
boycotting Disney for this, along with their providing benefits to
same-sex domestic parters and their movie devision's alleged
"promotion" of homosexuality.
So next time you go to Disney, write them a letter letting them know
that you AGREE with their policies (well, except the distancing!)

Well, regardless of what I think about the Disney view of gays, the fact
remains that their rides suck. Would you pay to ride crappy rides just to
express your political solidarity?
