Was this ride originally installed at another park? Did the trains ever run
"facing forward"? This was a very lame ride.

It was installed new for the 1995 season. the ride was contracted by the
parks original management. I was my belief that Six Flags had the trains
installed backwards to at least make the ride unique.

Joker's Revenge was an original for SFFT. The coaster was ordered under the
assumption of normal forwards operation by the previous owners. During the
off-season the park was purchased by Six Flags and it was decided that a normal
single loop, double corkscrew coaster was a bit to lame for a park in the SF
chain. IMHO, they did the right thing and went with the backwards approach and
themed it wonderfully to Joker. I actually enjoyed this coaster quite a bit and
the queue line is an attraction onto itself. It *is* one of my favorite rides
on the park. They turned a typical ho-hum ride into something quite unique and
enjoyable.

I agree with your statement. This is *THE* worst coaster in the park. The
queue is a great idea and very fun, but the ride is such a let-down. I
think it would have been a much more enjoyable ride if Six Flags decided to
leave the trains forward-facing. I think it would be great if Six FLags
made a similar queue house for another Batman themed themed ride, also.
The ride is rough, too slow, and rather dull.

It was actually installed in 1996. It was going to be installed whether Six
Flags had management of the park or not since it was already ordered for the
park. The original name was supposed to be the Hurricane since it is on a
Boardwalk. When Six Flags took over management of the park....the switched the
name to Jokers Revenge and decided to go with the Backward train thing. Short,
but decent ride IMHO but those Arrow trains really suck.

I liked this coaster too. I was actually surprised that it was not
painful to ride, especially since most coasters with this type of Arrow
train are.

I may be way off base here but I remember reading a story of why this coaster
was purchased in the first place. Fiesta Texas was supposed to receive a
Vekoma SLC which instead was routed to Opryland. Reason being, FT was in the
midst of some serious lawsuits over the Rattler and park mgmt determined that
the Vekoma SLC was to "intense" for the general public.

That is not true either. the reason that the >I may be way off base here but I

THe reason that the SLC got sent to Opryland is because the park was in the
midst of changing management and Gaylord entertainment didnt wanna spend money
on something that wasnt going to be theirs the following year.

Aren't the trains also Vekoma?

Press the button, if you dare!

I believe they are Arrow trains, the Boomerang has Vekoma trains, which are
much different, and MUCH better than the ones on Joker's Revenge.

>Press the button, if you dare!

".... for a little jolt of excitement!" :-) I think that is how it goes, I
used to have the entire recording memorized but I have only ridden Joker's
Revenge twice this season and can't remember the rest of it.

Oh the Boomerang was quite enjoyable with the Vekoma trains! I was so happy
to see their name embedded into the fiberglass body. Joker's Revenge would
be a lot better facing forward in Vekoma trains.

FYI

It may not be an intense ride.. but it fits in the overall Family Theme of the
park.. something for all ages. My nieces 10 and 11 love this ride... it is
their 'starter"! We all have to start somewhere
