The new release of RadioRaft permits to decode 12 ARQ modes,
8 FEC, 3 modes by packets and many others.
It's a DOS program that runs with the Hamcomm interface or a
demodulator.
It is usefull, fast and full automatic: detection of the
speed, mode and shift in less than 15 sec.
Among the innovations with regard to version 2:
- 6 new modes: Acars, Pocsag, Pactor-I, Dup-Arq, Gmdss-Dsc
and Uosat-data (Oscar).
- shiftmeter
- FFSK and DFSK demodulation
- many improvements in the quality of the decoding
For all details and downloading:
http://www.TheOffice.net/RadioRaft/
The free version for a review permits to detect all modes
but displays only Baudot, Arq-E, Fec-A, Sitor-A (Amtor-A.
"Digit", the "bit by bit" mode is also available.
It is not limited in time.
Good decoding.

I finally got the program but I still can not get it to decode
anything properly...just garbage is all..I have the Hamcomm interface
and it works well with other programs such as JVFAX. But so far have
had no luck even decoding straight RTTY with it...tried to get CFH but
no go. I have a M-1000 that get perfect copy on CFH. Also, a program
called Chromapix is incredible!!! Beautiful copy of SSTV!!

Not trying to run it in a DOS box are you?
You have to exit Windows and restart in DOS mode.

Must be the interface then. Does the interface work with
HamComm or other programs?
If you have a baudot-capable TNC you could always test it
via that.

HAHAH well I have audio going in to the interface so the port/IRQ is
not the problem...have used the SAME SETUP for PC HFFAX and JVFAX with
no trouble....just can not get RR to decode properly....I am convinced
it is "pilot error" but do not know where the prob is!! :-)

Well.. there is a warning in the doc's that RR3 will not work with
some AMD and Cyrix uP's in some platforms. My install was plug &
chug, although I had been using RR2.13 before. There seem to be a
lot more options for setting up the demod plug. Tried these? Is your
demod plug set up for the right polarity?

I've played a bit with this. In the Strategy item in one
of the menus, look at the frequencies under FSK1. I admit
I don't understand it, and neither the French nor English
manuals do much to help explain it.
I fiddled with it, after which it wouldn't decode ITA2
Hamburg met. A bit more fiddling and it came back to
normal.
Failing that (????) Re-install the program? Contact
François? - he's helpful and his English is fine.
(I've registered mine - awaiting my code!)
Were you able to upgrade from RR2.13 to RR 3.0 at no cost? If so how did
you do it?

No. It costs FF 98.40 (around ten pounds) to do so. I sent
a EuroCheque off first class on Tuesday and have my code back
by EMail today.
You have to make a disc of the program and extract from that
the first half of the key to unlock the program.
There's an order form in the RR directory. If you use
anything other than cash or EuroCheque it will cost a bit
more for bank charges.
It's well worth the money.

Great fun, particularly for someone who hasn't been with MessyDOS since the
days computers were operated via teleprinter terminals. :(
Took me half a weekend to find out what this bloody serial number is about
and eventually ended up with a non-working key.
Hopefully, this scheme will be remotely as efficient against software
pirates as it is at deterring registered users.

Though I maintain my views about such cumbersome copy protection systems,
I'd like to express my appreciation for the really prompt and most friendly

Well that's just too bad. The world didn't start and
end with Windows. Try exiting Microsoft's latest cockup
and restart in DOS mode.
Pity you can't hack this simplest of programs; outside

Are the FSK limits showing on the Frequency/Shift-

centre frequency?
Tune to the a German Meteo station, set it up
manually for BAUDOT and 50 bauds and see what you
get.
Fiddle with the Tracking and Modulation settings in
the Modulation menu.

First, you must restart your computer in DOS mode. RR will not work in a
DOS window. If you are connected, you will see the signal strength bar
flicker - not the freq meter. If there is no movement in that, then you
have a connection problem and not a decoding problem. Possible causes
(other than restarting in DOS mode) could be that you don't have the
right com port selected.
If the signal strength is flickering, then you know you have a good
connection and it is a matter of being able to decode. In my opinion RR
is good that it covers a wide variety of modes, but its ability to synch
and decode is not great.
Mu suggestion to verify that the decoding program is working is to try
decoding CW. Find a CW station (the CW id from a SITOR-A that is idling
is not good enough), switch to CW mode and carefully tune your reciever
till you see the baud indicator change to track the CW signal. If it
does, RR should synch on the CW signal and start decoding in about 5
seconds.
RR (at least 2.13) is pretty good for CW but for the other modes, it
takes a fair amount of practice to be able to (I use a Kenwood R-5000)
decode RTTY, SITOR-A, SITOR-B or FEC-A. I have not had any sucess with
the other modes.
Hope this helps. My 2 cents based on my experience with RR 2.13.
