I recall seeing a list of CHP frequencies in a magazine sometime within
the past year (Monitoring Times?), but now that I need it I can't seem
to locate it. Does anyone remember where and when it appeared, or can
anyone send me a list of the CHP frequencies/channels. Here in Worcester,
Massachusetts, I've been listening to CHP daily on 42.12 MHz with mobiles
on 42.20. The sunspot activity has really provided some interesting
listening on 30-50 MHz.

Do you really pick up California Highway Patrol in Mass? Anyway,
my favorite (base) frequency is 42.50. I've never picked up the mobile
transmissions but I don't have a big antenna either. What are
you using?

Here's what I've got so far on the CHP. Note that the mobile call signs are
usually preceded by the office number, thus fixing their general location.
There are some exceptions, including aircraft and inspection vehicles, which
may have a name plus a number ID, i.e., "Air 34" or "Golden Gate 24".

I'd also like to hear from anyone who can fill in the blanks.

Here's where to find the California Highway Patrol frequencies.

Districts, Callsigns, Frequencies etc are all in
Government Radio Systems, published by Robert Kelty.

If you can't find that one which is most useful in California,
Monitor America, the 85-86 version, also contains a map of
districts and frequency assignments that are a bit out of
date.

See your nearest ham library.

Just wanted to say thanks to all who helped me out with this. I received
several lists of CHP frequencies, and have combined the best features of
each into the list below which I thought might be of general interest.
Ph...@pepsi.amd.com asked what I was using to pick up CHP. Many of the base
stations are quite audible here with just my handheld scanner and telescopic
antenna, although the Regency MX7000 with Antenna Specialist ground plane
antenna on the back porch does a much better job of pulling in the mobiles.

This is all old and invalid information. For example, 42.440 is not even used at all anymore for some reason. It was the old pink but pink is another freq. now.

While some may be outdated 42.4400 is still an active CHP frequency for the Tulare county area.
