Probably a UK question:

Has anyone tried this model - £130 in the UK?

I'm looking for a small unit to access English broadcasts on SW whilst I'm
out of the Country.

Any views would be appreciated!

Hmm--I just tried looking it up at www.rnw.nl and they didn't have
Roberts at all. Roberts has, in the past, at least, been primarily an
OEM marketer of Sangean radios. So, if you want reviews of a Roberts
receiver, the first thing you'd want to know is the Sangean equivalent
model and the Radio Shack equivalent model in the U.S.

Note that the radio as marketed in different boxes may have very
slight differences, although the primary difference is likely to be
something like one brand includes the headphones and battery
eliminator and the other charges extra.

I looked in Passport and couldn't find a Roberts R876 (Passport also
lists such radios under their Sangean/RS equivalents).

I can't find a USA equivalent of this radio in my books. However,
Passport recommends for travel use a radio called Roberts R617 in the
UK, which goes for L124.95 (my Yank keyboard doesn't have a pounds
sterling symbol!).

May I quote, with full acknowledgement to the editor Clive Goodyear, the
following article in a UK publication"Radio Listener's Guide"
for your information.

ROBERTS R876 FM 87.5-108, LW 153-513, MW 520-1720, SW 1711-29999 £130

""Compact PLL digital world band receiver.A good-looking radio with a nice
feel to the controls and with keypad frequency entry. This radio is
replacing the R617. I liked the "Auto-Tuning System" which quickly puts the
strongest stations on FM, LW, and MW into memory. "Memory scan", scans
through the memories stopping for several seconds at each one. Clock
display can be switched on and off while the radio is on - and displays
when the radio is turned off. Simple LED tuning indicator. Good reception,
with sensitive FM. Reasonable sound from the small speaker. Excellent sound
through the earphones. The radio comes with an auto switching ac adaptor,
earphones, SW washing line type aerial and carrying pouch. My favourite
compact digital portable radio.""

As the Roberts R617 is the Sangean ATS606A (or ATS606p) the question
is..have Roberts taken an, as yet unidentified, Sangean model and re-badged
it as is the practice for the UK, or have Roberts themselves produced a
modified ATS606 for the UK market?

All the same it looks an excellent compact for the price and features!
