Hey, that gets me thinking about making a ferrite antenna to try and receive longwave from Europe. I drive past a local forest preserve alot and I think it might be a good low noise place for that. I have been considering a large loop antenna but an amplified ferrite antenna would easier to trek around with.

I've seen Youtube videos of people getting readable Euro LW wintertime reception this far inland with simple radios.

It's getting a little late in this season but next winter might be worth a shot. And ferrite rods are really cheap on ebay, if I order from China and wait, wait, and wait.
