Not as fancy as a few of the Windows programs, but still very functional.

A screen shot of the little radio's environment:

Note the creative file naming.

A left click on the screen should get the full size picture

Why all the folders on your desktop? I use ubuntu as well and only have
one desktop icon, for my external drive. I put my favorite apps on
the top bar and store my files "inside". You look like you're still
running (ecchhh...) Windows.

That being said, the 320 GUI looks great!

You know how to hurt a guy. Actually, there are two work windows, and
the other one is a lot cleaner, with the minimum of blemishes.

Yes, it's also quite functional. The mouse wheel works the tuning knob
when the pointer is placed anywhere over the front face of the radio. A
spreadsheet style data base, which isn't shown, also allows tuning by
double clicking on a frequency.

I still use a firewall, just in case. Try Firestarter. It's easy to set
up and you don't have to start editing arcane, hidden iptables files.
The real Linux users would cringe at that last line.

It's surprising what traffic comes your way.

This is a good site to check ANY computer for weaknesses:

http://www.grc.com/intro.htm

Click on the 'Shields Up' logo, then move down the page to 'Shields up'.

After clicking on that, click on the 'Proceed' button.

On the next page, I usually click the 'All Service Ports' button.

All the squares should show up green.

Let me know if you decide to try it and have an unusual result.

I didn't read no steenkin' reviews before buying.

You just KNOW the front end of ANY radio made on Dolly Parton Drive has
to be GOOD.

I haven't been disappointed.

The separate Desk-Top or Lap Top Computer that is
used to run the Ten-Tec RX-320 Receiver; or any other
SDR will most likely cost more and use more power.

FWIW, RX-320 users may want to try Ham Radio Deluxe. The web site
doesn't say that it supports the RX-320, but it does support the
RX-350 as well as several other Ten-Tec offerings. I know that HRD
runs fine on XP (including the x64 version), I use it that way here
with my TS-450 and a friend also runs it under XP with his TS-480.

Again, not sure if it works with the RX-320 or not, but it's a free
program, so costs nothing to try it. The latest version also
incorporates Digital Master 780 so if it works you have built-in
decoding of numerous digital modes as well.

Those who prefer an Xnix OS over Windows may want to try this same
package under Wine (Open Source implementation of the Windows API on
top of X, OpenGL, and Unix, allowing many unmodified Windows programs
to run on x86-based Unixes like Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, Solaris).

Someone who wanted a nice pic of the radio on a contrasting surface.

If you use a notebook computer and the SDR uses a serial port, then you will
need to use a USB-to-Serial converter. Not all of these devices perform
equally. And many notebooks (at least mine) inject a signifcant amount of
RFI into the adapter. I feel like I'm keeping my local Radio Shack in
business by buying all their chokes.

This is something to keep in mind.
