It was on the Oaklands.edu FTP site, although I don't have the exact
address now. If you can't find it, email me privately and I will send
it to you. I'm sure I still have it somewhere.
It's a very easy mod, and its really worth it. You can search at much
higher speeds without having to wait for the receiver to go "kerchunk"
between each step.
I also disabled the ANNOYING beep that you get when you push EVERY
BUTTON ON THE RADIO.

There is an electrolytic capacitor just behind the volume control. remove
it and place a jumper across the two exposed points and solder in place.
This will eliminate the chuffing or squelching as it is often called.
There are two other capacitors just above this capacitor so make sure you
get the one just behind the volume control pot. Good luck.

Gents/Ladies:
The other mod involved clipping a single green wire. The 390 tends to
go silent when the tuning knob is turned so you can't hear what your
trying to hear (brilliant, Sangean). Cutting the wire stops the mute.
Also, the mod allows audio during auto-seek so you can hear the weaker
stations (that won't stop the scan) go by. DX Ontario published the
details about two years back. I did the mod to my 390...took about 15
minutes. Marvelous !!
