I know GE had a least 3 versions of the Superradio for AM Dxing. Out of I,
II,
and III which was the best overall?

Go for the II. (Note though that neither the I or the II have the expanded band
coverage up to 1700 kHz).

I don't think there is a G.E.Superadio I, is there? Anyway, I own a
G.E.Radio and according to the model number on the back of the radio it
is a G.E.Superadio although it does not say Superadio anywhere on the
radio.I bought the radio new at a Service Merchandise store back in the
1980s.In my opinion, the first G.E.Superadios (including the one I own)
are better than the G.E.Superadios models II and III.I have never owned
a G.E.Superadio II or a G.E.Superadio III before.I am only basing my
expert opinion on reviews I have read before about the first ones and
the IIs and the IIIs.

As has been pointed out to you, time after time after time after time, the one
you have based upon the part number is what is known as the Superadio I.

7-2880B is the model number on the back of my radio.
Oh well, if it is a G.E.Superadio I, I guess that is what it is then.
Old Oldsmobiles with factory equiped Chevrolet engines are still
Oldsmobiles, I guess.

American Kennel Club says Blue Heeler Australian Cattle Dogs are highly
intellegent, but sometimes I wonder about my doggy. www.akc.org
(scratch around on their AKC website and see for yourself) I can't learn
any new tricks, I done got way too old.

I have here a Grand Prix AM Deluxe Pocket Radio Model No.A100 AM
Frequency 535 - 1605 KHz, made in Philippines. It is a shirt pocket size
radio, it runs on a 9 volt battery.I bought the radio for fifty cents at
the Goodwill store a few years ago.It is as good as any of my hundreds
of other little old, old, old pocket radios at picking up long distance AM
stations. All of my old, old, old AM vacuum tube and transistor radios (the
ones that work anyway) are better than any of those G.E.Superadios at
picking up long distance AM stations.

I was mistaken.American Kennel Club says they are extremly intelligent.A
lifespan of about 14 years.Doggy was born on May 29,2002 near
Raymond,Mississippi, eight miles Southwest of Jackson.I will probally
croak before my dog does.

Skinny twin sister will be off work for two weeks this Thursday. That
wooden fence she started on in Feburary this year, she hasen't hit a
lick on finishing up with that fence since Feburary. She bought a new
lawn mower and a new gas engine weedeater before she went to work
Thursday before last. The lawn mower is sitting out there in the middle
of her back yard, anybody could come along and steal it.That other
woman, Carolyn, she went somewhere about a month and a half or two
months ago, I haven't seen her over there since then and that other
other woman, Ashley, I haven't seen her over there in about a month and
a half or two months ago either.I guess she went to live with her
boyfriend. He works for Mississippi Door Company.

Those G.E.Superadios are over rated.

The best General Electric Super Radios, in my opinion, are the 7-2880B sets. But, like all of them, these vary widely from radio to radio, for all kinds of reasons, not the least of which is the differing performance of the IC chip. Further, the manufacturer used gain-blockers to reduce the performance of the more "hot" ICs, so the resulting over-the-counter models would be as similar as possible, despite component variations. Transistors also varied in gain. Generally, these are good radios. The very first Super radio II sets were excellent; but soon they changed the tuning-condenser to a wafer type that did not track nearly as well, degrading alignment and therefore performance. Other radios out there are marginally better, but also cost a whole lot more than the Super Radios did. The Super radio downfall is in selectivity. Adjacent F.M. signals are a problem, and it is nearly impossible to zero-in on a European, African, or Asian A.M. station on frequencies BETWEEN our domestic 10kcs spacing. These generally are excellent everyday or "starter" radios for portable DXing (or, just plain nice sound); but you will need to graduate to something better if you want to get serious in the hobby. The Super Radio III is not worth bothering with. It is inferior in every way, including sound.

Hi duncan,

I was one of the engineers at G.E. corp that helped design the super radio.
There is nothing special about it and it really is a terrible radio, but we
knew if we called it 'Super Radio' a Shit-load of retards would buy one.
