Hi,
I have put together an Acars test and demonstration message generator.
The generator simulates a transmitted Acars message for testing out a
computer, sound card and decoder software.
The generator demonstrates abbreviated message expansion and moving
aircraft positioning from decoder data base and display systems.
This has removed some uncertainty that I had with my radio receiver
and poor reception of the Acars signals.
With my 486DX50 the generator gives excellent performance with a text
decoder and acceptable performance with a graphics decoder system.
The data:
- Outputs Acars message format
- Aircraft id
- Flight number
- Departure message
- Simple message
- Moving position coordinates
The hardware:
- Single chip 20 pin microcontroller chip
-10 resistors
- 3 terminal regulator
- crystal
- 7 capacitors
- LED
- PCB 41 x 38 mm
- 3.5 mm phone connector
The output:
- 70mV pp
- 2400 baud MSK
- phase contiuous
- 64 step sine synthesis.
Runs off a small 9 volt battery and plugs into a sound card mic input.
