Disclaimer: I did not like this book. I had major issues with it, and this is not a complimentary review. My discussion questions are neutral, though, so you can skip to them if you would like to bypass the negativity. Also, this post is not spoiler-free. I usually try to keep my reviews spoiler-free, but there was no way for me to express about what I wanted to express about this book without spoiling some (but not all) major plot points. The discussion questions, as always, spoil everything.

Sometimes I feel like this year has grinded to a halt, but then I look at what day it is and realize 2021 is right around the corner. And with that, here is my ultimate list of must-read book club books for 2021!

2021 is shaping up to be a great reading year! We have the return of Kristin Hannah, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Sally Hepworth and Paula McLain. There are also many debut authors on this list who will no doubt have lasting careers. The topics are so varied and there will be something for every book club in this list.

The Woman Upstairs opens with extraordinary heat and momentum. "How angry am I? You don't want to know," rages Nora Eldridge, a single third-grade teacher in Cambridge, Mass., whose mother gave her the nickname "Mouse." Nora's rant invokes Dostoyevsky's Underground Man and Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man. But the terrain she describes is not subterranean: "We're always upstairs. ... We're the quiet woman at the end of the third-floor hallway ... who smiles brightly in the stairwell with a cheerful greeting ... and not a soul registers that we are furious."

And one of the best ways to ensure a successful book club meeting is to come prepared with discussion questions. A great list of discussion questions can help you avoid awkward silences and move your club beyond obvious questions like whether or not you liked the book.

Glendy Vanderah worked as an endangered bird specialist in Illinois before she became a writer. Originally from Chicago, she now lives in rural Florida with as many birds, butterflies, and wildflowers as she can lure to her land. Where the Forest Meets the Stars is her debut novel. Connect with Glendy at her website or on instagram, and check out this great reading guide which includes a set of book club questions.if(typeof ez_ad_units != 'undefined')ez_ad_units.push([[728,90],'bookloverbookreviews_com-large-mobile-banner-1','ezslot_10',175,'0','0']);__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-bookloverbookreviews_com-large-mobile-banner-1-0');

In addition to the book club in a box kits, we also have single book club books available. These books are not in kits, so you can check out as many copies as you need. Discussion questions are not automatically provided with the single book club books and instead you can print the discussion questions from this LibGuide. Below you will find all of the books currently available as single book club books
