Hello!

I am considering buying an AR-1000 in good cosmetic shape and with
usual accessories. I wonder if US$55 is a good price for it and if
it performs reasonably well... comments welcomed!

Thanks!

JOSE

If you have the chance of an Aor 1000 for US$ 55.00. Snap it up.
well worth that amount. I had one years ago, (cost a lot more than 55.oo I
can tell you)
It only has AM/FM/WFM but if I recall it covers from 8.000Mhz to
1300.000Mhz-No gaps. It is quite a good scanner, well worth $55 anyway.
If you don't buy it, tell the seller I will buy it.
regards
SD

This is a great radio. but...the keypad can suffer from "not working". I
have somewhat solved the problem with graphite on the pad, but given the age
of the unit, you need to get some assurance that the keypad works.

I have one (on loan to a friend). $55!!!! GRAB IT NOW!!!! I'll buy if you
don't want it. Does taking getting use to and I lost my manual. 1000
channels, cellular unblocked, but on the lower freqs (AM Bcb, lower SW's)
definitely NEEDS a longer antenna. Hope this is helpful. (Please don't but
it so I can! :^) )

$55? Hell yeah! It's a real pain in the butt to program, but it's got every
feature that you would want. Without the manual, it might be impossible to
really use it well. It's not all that intuitive to use (now that I think of
it, what scanner really is). If you look around, you might be to find an
old copy of Howard Borenstein's (not sure of name spelling) guide to the
AR-1K.

I don't recall if it needed a better antenna. I don't think I had much
difficulty picking up stuff, but I'm in a good area. You definitely need
different antenna for SW and other stuff aside from the usual scanning
bands.

Replacement keypads are still available (same one used on the Trident
TR-2400 but fitted the other way around) and whilst not as easy as some
to replace replacing it the best option.
