Does anyone on this entire planet besides me own a Uniden Bearcat
210Xlt? I can't find anything on the internet. The closest I found was
an Electra Bearcat 210Xlt (?) And a Uniden Bearcat 210Xl, in which I
had to join a Yahoo radio group to grab a PDF Manual for.

I would like to know if anyone knows where I can get a free PDF
manual. I would also like to know if anyone else owns one, what
"Electra" is or was, how old BC210Xlt is, and just why the heck is it
so rare?!?

My Grandfather gave me my 210Xlt, and I have 15 freq. programed into
it. (2 Air-Traffic Control Canada, 1 Ham frequency, 1 T.V station
(Global, 407.287), and the rest Gov't/Police/Fire, all in the VHF
band, except for the T.V station.

Thank You In Advance!
-Trent

Uniden bought the "Bearcat" division of Electra in 1984. I think the Electra
210XL was made around 1982.

It is so rare because it is so old. I had one before I was married 28 years

I know a guy who has a "Service" manual for it - bought a copy off him a
while back. Charged me - $12.50 plus shipping. Not too bad considering
postage and copying fees (not to mention time to do so).

My husband bought a uniden bearcat 210 XLT yesterday at a pawn shop on a whim. I have not been able to find anything on it on the internet but stumbled across your post. It picked up the weather channel loud and clear this morning and got a PSA from the local station about flood water here but nothing since. I think Ive messed something up by pushing buttons. Sure would like to get it back like kt was before he gets back home.

Is the antenna itself broken, or is the socket on the back of the
scanner broken internally ??

If the antenna, any antenna with an "automotive/car radio" style plug
should work.

If the jack/socket/connector, any competent technician or shop should
be able to replace it a minimum cost. It's a standard part

The Uniden Bearcat BC-210XLT is a full featured, 40 channel (two banks
of 20) scanner that covers VHF Low Band, Air Band, VHF High Band and
UHF. The Priority channel is checked every two seconds. Channel Lockout
allows you to skip channels you don't want to hear. The Weather Search
feature gives you instant access to your local NOAA weather station.
Programming is easy. Just key in the desired frequency. You can see the
entire frequency on the green vacuum florescent display. Scanning is at
15 channels per second. Automatic or manual squelch is available.

In its day, it was a reasonably good table top programmable 40 channel
scanner.

Print it yourself here -

Geesh, you must be dumb!
If you know how to program it - there isn't much else you would need the
manual for!

Electra Corporation, A Division of MASCO Corporation, Cumberland Indiana
was the company that manufactured the older model of scanner - same
model for Uniden - before they started using a offshore manufacturer.
Japan, Korea, etc...

We have the same scanner. However our problem isn't a manual. Its how to get it programmed.

really very simple programming, however in to-days digital world of very
limited use. I use mine to monitor some of the older services such as
marine channels on the river.. otherwise police & fire in our area is all
digital.. as well as all metro services.

what do you need to know ?

Most Bearcat scanners, you first put it in VFO mode and then you tune to
the frequency you desire and then you hit the save button and assign it
a channel number.

Or you can press the Enter button and program the frequency directly to
the VFO by entering it with the key pad and then pressing save and
assigning it a channel number.

So simple my 5 year old daughter could do it!

I own one. I’ve had it since it was brand new in 1990. In fact, I’m listening to it right now. Working as well as the day it came out of the box.
