Hi everyone,

I was going through some of my scanner frequency lists when I came
upon the following freqs. listed for Consolidated Edison, and Long
Island Lighting.
2194, 3155, 4438, 5005, 6765, and 7300 KHz....
Could someone let me know what these are used for? Are they for
digital transmission or are they part of some nationwide utility
network? In any case, I guess they are truly "utility utility
frequencies"!

Thanks,
Jeff Chambers

Jeff, I am the Electronic and Communications supervisor for the New York Power
Pool in Guilderland ( Albany ) NY. and I actually work for Lilco. The freqs
you mentioned are used for the New York Power Pools HF SSB Emergency
communications Network. All Power Company Control centers in NYS are part of
the Network. CE,LILCO,OR,RGE,CH,NMP,NYSEG, and NYPPA. tests are usually
conducted Tuesday evenings about 1900 Hrs. The Network is about to be
dismantled with a diverse land line set up. (HA HA HA ).

All radios are Motorola Micoms running aprx 125 watts PEP and Long wire ants
with Auto Ant tuners.

Well, Need anymore info?... Ernie ko2e@ capital.net
