* The CE-232 comes with a built-in, easy-to-use text editor for
editing and reviewing your log and configuration files without ever
leaving the program! Also available are two user-definable "tool" menu
selections. This means that you can specify up to two utilities of
your own to be used with the CE-232 program!
One of the most used functions in mine is scripting. You can select
from a varity of avalable scripts or write your own.
A simple script I use regularly starts and stops a tape recorder
whenever _specific_ channels are active. Record only selected channels
while scanning the full 400, or whatever you select.
Monitor several repeater input channels and switch to the output
channel when a mobile is near your location. (great for high traffic
citywide channels)
These are a few of the abilities of the '232, you Will find others...

I have the Ce-232, and it's a great tool. But unless the software has
been revised (I don't think so) the text editor is not built in. You
"shell" out to a shareware text editor he throws in. (Course you
still have to register it).

Where can you point me for a definitive listing of the features
of the various programs for controlling a scanner with a computer?
I see scanty ads with lots of !!! and telling me it's the best, offhand
remarks on the newsgroups, but nowhere have I found a concise
listing of exactly what each program does. That's the only way
I can make a useful decision, and I am very close to needing
to make that decision.
Any pointers or your own descriptive list of features is welcome.
Might as well post, so that everyone can chime in with
constructive additions.
Thanx!
