I'm a handicapped senior and for a couple of years I listened to the
California Highway Patrol frequencies in the 42.xx range as I lay in my
bed late at night, glad I didn't have to be out on the freeways.

We were recently out of state for a while, and when I came back, I found
I don't get a thing on the old frequencies. Did they change to a
different mode? I've searched up and down the dial many times, but
can't find them. If they have changed to a trunked system, what would I
need to buy to eavesdrop? Believe me, I'm not listening so I can
speed. My wheelchair only does about a mile an hour when I'm in good
shape. I'm just nosy!

Thanks,

J Haroldson

You need to provide the area you are listening to, for anyone to anwer your
question. There have been a few areas that have switched to a 39MHz transmit
channel. (No trunking in the plans for near future.)

Ed and the rest of you that answered - thanks for helping. I'm in Lodi, but I
used to live in Benicia, and I used to be able to hear them all the way from the
Golden Gate to Auburn. Maybe my move is what messed it up. I would like to hear
about the traffic up and down 99 and 5 between Sacramento and somewhere around
Modesto. I'm thinking maybe my antenna on my Pro 51 is broken. I did shut it in
a cupboard door a while back. Would that make a difference. I can get
Sacramento Fire, though.

LODI is too deep in the valley to get over
into where you want to hear....i've
been up there and all I get is the
areas nearby.

it's a dead zone area....

I live in Visalia, CA and am a bit confused by which frequencies to program to obtain the transmissions by CHP in our area. Any idea which of these areas we should look at to get good frequencies??? Thanks!
