I've seen some mods on the web, but they don't work the same way as
the mods I had done to mine by a shop in Georgia.
My CM-10 gets 15 bands @ 40 channels each for 600 channels total from
23.185 mhz to 30.555 mhz. All are selectable from a band switch
function using button M6 in the alternate function mode. M7 is a
repeater function. The bands are also sectable by just turning the
channel selector knob either way. They also beefed up the RF
shielding and installed a speech processor.
The bands are as follows:
-A 23.185 to 24.255
-B 24.265 to 24.705
-C 24.715 to 25.155 (HAM 12m band)
-D 25.165 to 25.605
-E 25.615 to 26.055
A 26.065 to 26.505
B 26.515 to 26.955
C 26.965 to 27.405 (CB 11m band)
D 27.415 to 27.855
E 27.865 to 28.305 (HAM 10m band)
+A 28.315 to 28.755 (HAM 10m band)
+B 28.765 to 29.205 (HAM 10m band)
+C 29.215 to 29.655 (HAM 10m band)
+D 29.665 to 30.105 (HAM 10m band)
+E 30.115 to 30.555
The mods I've seen on the net use a different button to access the
bands and make no mention of using the channel knob to do the same
thing. Mine uses M6 to cycle through the bands or just turning the
channel knob. I've also never seen the repeater mode (duplex)
function mentioned in any of the web mods. The frequency display does
not display the "3" in 30.000 mhz. Instead it displays 0.000 mhz.
Otherwise, it's as listed above.
The reason for the additional rf shielding and speech processor is
that they said there was problems with the audio in these radios which
caused some static and weak sounding signal.
Short of the radio not having SSB, I love this little unit. Probably
the best I've seen/heard for the money. I like it better than my
Galaxy. It deadkeys about 5 watts, and swings about 25 watts.
They did all of this for $47.00 and also sell them for $147.00 with
the above mods in place. They are not done in their store/shop but at
their lab in Jacksonville, FL which requires some time. Mine took
about 3 weeks from the time I dropped it off at the shop until it was
back at the shop ready to pick up.
