Nearly any microphone can be fitted to nearly any radio. Some present
little problems (like not having a "receive" wire), but they can be overcome
by a technician with limited knowledge or problems.

Leave the radio alone. It will sound better and last longer if

barefoot 90% of the time in my mobile. When more is needed,
I hit the switch, usually on the lowest setting.
I still use stock mikes. The right mike can sound clear and
loud when not being muffled and distorted by overdrive.
Get a small box. You will be much happier with the results.
Besides, most Tri-Star radios have the silkscreens on PC Board to tell you
what each control does. If you don't understand
the difference between ALC and AMC, get out of the radio.
