has anyone here heard of and/or used a dak radio particularly a dak x

Nice looking radio . l have seen posts slamming the radio for the bad way they
work . Lets see what other people have to say . l wouldn't mind one myself just
because the way they look .

they are one of the best looking raido's ever made..big meters. and lots of
chrome..very impresive looking..but yes they are not the most powerfull.. some
may say..there are many mods that cane be done to the radio.
i guess there simillar to a blackcat board and you can get 150 watts pumped out
of it..i think ken at black cat knows of this mod if you want to investigate
ferther.
i have had a couple with the 50 watt mods done to them. and the mods for those
are in the cb secret boooks..i have a stock one fs if any one's interested..

I have a DAK Mark IX And it is a very nice radio. I don't know much
about the mods to the radio. When I got it was pretty sick. I just
replaced the tubes with the right tubes ( tubes Sams called for) and put
the wireing back the way Sams called for and run the radio like that. I
get good audio reports on the radio. As far as the rummors about the
radio being a small board in a big box they aren't true. Its a neat
radio. I like mine. Although I probly have to much invested in the radio
I don't mind because its a good working CB basestation. I use it mainly
to listen to the locals and the truckers, they can be a blast to listen
to. I hope that this will help you in a desision on the radio. The best
thing I could say to is stay away from the mods and keep it legal.

I'm sure I'll catch mojor shit for this but what the hell.....Dak radios are
just another 02A board radio but have a nice looking box and a tube final. WERE
hard to come by until the internet brought them into our living rooms for all
to gawk at and still dream about. They can be moody radios and some techs won't
work on them because of the tube final.

Speaking of Dak's My dad had a Dak 9.... Now that was a real "BIG"
(and heavy!) radio. Big meters, Big switches, big everything!

I see this is a very old thread but I will post my reply anyway.I have an near Mint DAK Mark X & it & my Browning Golden Eagle MK IVA are by far my favorite CB base radios.As of February 1,2017 they are my Go To Radios when I'm in my shack &on the 11 meter band.No mods on either just running an amplified D-104 on both.

I do like my MARK III and Mark IVA the best. 4A is a great radio.
