It works well, 5 mile range on flat desert. Has a nifty "ALERT" light
that lit when my antenna was loose. Has a super-fancy-get-outta-town
automatic channel number dimmer! Hey, now THAT's useful, how could anyone
get along without an auto dimmer! It's big ugly and chrome, with a little
horizontal meter on the left upper corner.
Have you seen this rig? Do you recognize it from a bygone era or perhaps
the back of a milk carton? If so, please mail me. I'd like to know who
REALLY made this dinosaur of mine.

!!!
!!!Not 100% sure as Sears was notorious for changing contractors for
!!!manufacture of "their" products, but a good guess would be KRACO.
!!!KRACO may have even had a sub-contractor.

I'm not sure of ALL the Sears radios, but their RoadTalker 40 SSB had a or
should I say: "Had THE famous" Cybernet Chassis, made in japan. These were very
good boards, which HY-Gain used as well, and many were converted to 10 meters.
Hope that helps!

I used it for a few years and found it to be a solid, well-performing
radio. Received well and also put out a good, strong signal. As a bonus,
you could get Channel "19A" (27.195 Mhz) by carefully stopping the
channel selector between 18 & 19.
