Gunn is selling them for Dave and the price is $550.00 this should include
the driven element "Which is the Rod" and the reflector with its mount,
Perhaps you are somewhere that it isnt worthwhile to ship the 4- 12'
sections of aluminum cheap. And it may be cheaper to get your own elements
than to pay the shipping for the 4-12'ers

No offense Xforce but although 55 makes one of the best coiled quarter waved cb
antennas. It simply DOES NOT COMPARE to the half-wave mobile that dave makes.
Simple logic for those that have tested it and those that have not....
A HALF WAVE ANTENNA WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER THAN A QUARTER WAVE ANTENNA!!!!!!
ICE IS OUTTA HERE!!!!!!!!!!

davemades 1/2 wave have proven to have 3db more gain than a 1/4 wave, which
is exactly the gain that you should have going from a 1/4 wave to a 1/2
wave. Just curious how 55's can be any more out of this world when the laws
of physics apply 3db is still 3db.

Can someone explain to me how a 1/2 wave antenna for 11m can be worth
$550 ?

I'll start making them tomorrow and become rich.

I can buy a used lathe, drill and stock of ali for less.

VERY VALID POINT AND IS PROBABLY THE REASON NO ONE HAS RESPONDED TO
YOUR POST. 1/2 WAVE MOBILE IS A HALF WAVE MOBILE UNLESS 55 IS NOW
MAKING 5/8 WAVE MOBILE. IN THAT CASE IT WOULD BE BETTER AND I WOULD
HAVE TO SEE THAT ONE.

Phil do you have any idea (I am sure you do) what fixed vacuum capacitors
cost ? lets see there are 2 @ 32 kv i'll leave the value out Call Surplus
Sales. Then there is the machinist work, not sure that your used lathe can
do the work of a cnc machine or as nice of a job, next a jig to bend copper
the coil, the t-6 elements 1/2" are 12' long you would need 4 of them, the
3" diamter of 6061 would be needed for the mount, as well as 1' of delron
which needs to be machined as well for the reflector mount. When this is
pretty much all said and done you can now sit down and assemble the parts .
Perhaps you like to work for free phil but i am assuming a small profit is
included for time and the know how to do it.
Happy Turkey Day

Well you did make me eat my words.

I'm of the opinion that if you're in the manufacturing game then with
overheads one has to double one's money at an absolute minimum.

I take it this is a mobile 1/2 wave design?

Are the cap's to bring the feed impedance up to 50R?

I was unawares that one needed any capacitance on frequencies around
27MHz but I only have experience of loaded 1/4 waves where the chassis
is the other half of the dipole and only from around 14MHz and down does
one need shunt cap's or tapped inductor.

Can one drive down the street with these monsters on top or are they
strictly for shoot out use?

Phil that was not my intention I know you are a intelligent person.

I agree, hard to in cb game with lots of competiton and people using your
design and not inheriting the cost of r&d that you had put into it

>I take it this is a mobile 1/2 wave design?

Yes sir.

>Are the cap's to bring the feed impedance up to 50R?

Yes Phil you need to introduce some capacitance, it is also a tapped inductor

>Can one drive down the street with these monsters on top or are they

strictly for stationary skip talking ,shootouts about 200 inches in height for
the driven element . Hope this helps Phil any further questions e-mail me ill
be glad to talk to you about it
