I'm just curious would a Lil Wil rated at up to 300 Watts be able to support
a Galaxy 250 High Drive Amp?

Thanks

I am sure you are curious you don't have any idea so you want to be sure you
don't burn up the lil wil. Thats pretty technical stuff jason

Hey Jason maybe you had better go back to playing with your video games and
leave the radio stuff for the grown ups.

Don't some amps get a little heavy to be held in the breeze by a magmount?
One way to cool the amp I guess.

If you plan to run the amp into the antenna, can I watch?? I will hold
the fire extinguisher but I absolutely refuse to tell anyone the paint was
scorched by a meteorite. Watching the amp reduce itself to ash might be
spectacular as well.

Plan to sell tickets???

Wilson uses RMS watts when rating their antennas. You shouldn't have any
problems with that 250. A good radio might get 250 watts on modulated
watts.

You see 4 to 600 watts out of a Galaxy 250? Wow. You must volt a lot.

If you try to push a galaxy 250 to 100 to 150 watts (a fairly broad margin,
200 peak
watts) it won't last long, and will sound like poo poo.

Otherwise, Hes right, it won't like that antenna for long.

Hello Jason: I had to repair a Lil Wil for a friend, a few months ago.
It has a coil with small gauge wire and a small low voltage capacitor.
The antenna was made for low dollar installations. Not power to the
tower type installations.

I'd say 250 is pushing this antenna. Suggest a better Wilson Antenna
such as the Wilson 1000 or 5000.

Hey SuckMyAss.... I can see you know how to use dejanews ... wow i post
about the XBOX o00oo0o00oo0 the secret is exposed!!! LOLOL

I can ask what i want and asking is breaking no law..... and yes this is a
CB newsgroup..... so why are you here?

Also I do know alot less than most here... thats is why i am ASKING the
questions opposed to answering them....

I'm not threatening you... I have a lot better things to do with my time...
opposed to you who things flaming people for not being as keen as you on
certain things... or people you thing are breaking the law.....

I'm not new just been out of the game for years..... and if this is your
way of trying to prevent people from breaking the law it sure is a
failure...

Why don't you try to enforce the law in the real world... not in some NG.

Bottom line say what you want to say... and try and show me and the rest of
the NG that you are much more versed in this than I and that you are so
righteous and law abiding.... I don't care.. i know where I stand in this
world and have a good idea where you stand... and I like it over here a lot
better...

So keep trying to 'enforce the law' but i know i do more in one week with
making the world a better place than you've probably done to date....

I really think you need to get a life and find something more productive to
do with your time.... and

I am not in the enforcement business, I am in the reporting business if you
key up with a illegal amplifier near my QTH, you sure will get reported.

I will continue to advocate legal CB, it is my God given right. I am a law
abiding citizen, apparently you are not as your past shows.

>I don't care.. i know where I stand in this

Where do you stand on the Illegal side? And that's usually the answer "I
don't care" when asked by the rest of the illegal op's.

Can you name some of your accomplishments?

Jason

unread,

to
1) Don't you worry I won't be in your area.

2) I follow the law and don't make it a habit. I have not used any illegal
radio equipment either.... I just want to know more about it forst.
Although I don't do anything against FCC regulatiosn I personally don't
think it is such a big deal and think other laws need to be enforced and
policed A LOT more thant CB wattage.

3) Yes its your god given right to advocate the law so preach on.... I am a
law abiding citizen as well.

4) I will not name my'accomplishments' that does not mean i don't have any I
just don't think sitting here naming some is called for..... I do charity
and humanitarian work when I can as well as donate to several worthwhile
charities (no charities that enforce CB FCC Regulations tho i'm sure to some
that would be worthwhile I just think there are a lot more important things
to worry about).
I do nothing that will make me a martyr but I do a lot of good in this
world.

In any event I really don't want to aste my time bickering back and
forth.... I know your point of view and you know mine...

LOL 0o0oo0o00o You are so very good with NG finders you deserve a hand!

I have used drugs before but none of that.... I inquired about it out of
100% curiosity... and thats the truth whether your self-righteous self
believes it of not.

and if you believe people who may 'break the law' here and there don't lead
good lives and actually do more good than bad than you have more problems
than I thought:)

Bottom line is I really don't want to bicker back and forth.... so please
pull up old NG's ... I can care less and have no issue with being curious
about things legal and illegal... I have nothing to hide my friend because
if it did it would be hidden.... I follow a fully law abiding life now and
whatever you think is fine... I lead a life that i have no problem with
and hurt no one... so whatever you think is fine...

This is a CB NG and I will continue to use it for that so have posting my
old messages they are of no bother to me...

Your liniker will put out around
100-150 watts dead key BIRD AM RMS watts

Thats between 4 and 600 watts PEP to the antenna, give or take.

Please disprove it.

As well as disprove it when using negative peak compression.

All I said was "LOL!" My goodness you are pissy lately.

I am surprised you did not jump on the negative peak
compression-limiting-clipping (all we are arguing is thresholds and time
constants). But I guess there is a limit to the amount of mythology to be
blown out of the water on any given day.

This is another one of the 1940 'techniques' that had been abandoned in
the commercial world by the end of the Korean War. It finally dawned on
some that there was not a lot of sense in trying to feed more amplitude
variation than the 2nd detector was capable of decoding. Love them meter
readings tho.

I am beginning to think that CB is the mythical elephant's graveyard where
old elephants go to die but never seem to.

Toll's use of 'negative peak compression' is just a euphamism for
harmonic distortion and/or non-linear response. He is just taking a
bad thing and putting a techo-spin on it to make it sound cool.

Back then the practice was to use high-Q output tanks mainly because
there were no low-impedance power amps, so such distortion was
filtered and therefore acceptable. In a low-impedance wideband amp it
just pisses off the neighbors.

Yeah, I'm getting tired of this myself. Fun is fun, but it seems that
a lot of these folks are actually -proud- of throwing away the
teachings from a well-established applied science in favor of
practicing RF voodoo. Can't you see what it will be like several years
from now: a bunch of overweight, drunk and naked keyclowns dancing
around the holy amp, sprinkling it with fresh chicken blood, chanting
"A-A-A-U-U-D-I-I-O-O-O". Gruesome.

Pissy has nothing to do with it.

Please disprove my statements, or withdraw your assinine comment of LOL.

You either agree, or disagree. Which is it Sparky?

It's actually a pretty good insight, albeit one made tongue-in-cheek.

The reversion to primitive society (and the corresponding
mystification of science) is a theme that's been explored in
literature many times. LORD OF THE FLIES by Wm Golding is the classic
example.

If you think of "CB Techs" as a bunch of competing "Witch Doctors" a
lot of things suddenly become very clear. Ask yourself "What do witch
doctors fear, above all?".

Hey, I just found your post amusing. I didn't agree or disagree. But
it seems 'pissy' has everything to do with it, because that's how you
are acting! Funny how I can now irritate you with just three little
