I have for sale a Connex 4800 DXL 10 meter mobile radio. It is in
almost new condition with original box, manuals, accessories, etc.. I
say "almost" becasue I used it as a base station for a few days just
to see what it would do. Essentially, it's still brand new. The rest
of the time I've had it, it's sat in the box on the shelf in my
office. What it can do, is completely cover 12 meters through 10
meters, AM/FM/SSB, 25W on AM and 40+ on SSB. With both the course and
fine clarifier controls, there's not a frequency between 10 and 12 it
cannot reach. I bought it new 3 years ago from Left Coast Radio who
also did the extended frequency mod, unlocked the clarifier, and
peaked and tuned it. Other than Left Coast, no one has been inside
this radio. I'm also throwing in the Galaxy service manual which
covers all radios using the EPT-6900-10Z board, including the Connex
4800 DXL. $240 including shipping within the US. If you're
interested, please email me at: dr...@alumni.utexas.net.

Please remember that this radio can be operated only by hams on the
ham bands. If you're not a ham, you can still use it to monitor until
you get that amateur radio license!

Transmitter and receiver alignment and unlocking the clarifier are
simple procedures that can be done easily and quickly by any
knowledgeable tech. Left Coast Radio, the dealer I bought the radio
from did both. According to my testing, both bench and on the air, it
was done properly. Ask around, and you'll find that these are simple
and common procedures that won't "junque" the radio. Also, without
the unlocked clarifier, you'd be stuck transmitting on just the .x50
frequencies such as 28.435, .445, .455, etc. with no way to reach
anything in between. With the clarifier unlocked, you can transmit
(and receive) continuously across the whole band.

Thanks for your interest.

My 2950 has a Sadelta ME-3 on it. So I ask again:

What does it offer over my 2950?

This Sadelta has a 100K pot for speed adjustment accessible from
the outside. The original pot was a 50K. Range of adjustment BABY!!

Really nothing. It'll do what a 2950'll do. The two radios represent
two totally different philosophies, though. Your 2950 is like a 300Z
and the Connex is like a 5.0 Mustang. The Connex is good old
fashioned, analog meter, big shiny silver knob, bright red LED, skip
shootin' fun! And they both get you down the road about the same.
For those 10 meters operators who have a twinge of nostalgia for the
good ol' days of radio, the Connex is it.

it probably wont change channels everytime you hit a bump in the road like your
2950 does. you sure sound proud of such a little radio with a really poor
reciever lol my 2510 can do what your 2950 cant, thats stop bleedover from
other stations. have a happy new year mud duck.

btw that mic is the real junk

No offence, but you could do that BEFORE the clarifier was unlocked... The
COURSE knob tracks both trans. and receive when turned. It was only the
FINE knob that was strictly receive. In any case, this one doesn't need to
be unlocked to be able to do what you claim it does now....

Power House, you are 100% correct. Indeed, the course control comes
unlocked from the factory. So yes, it had continuous transmit and
receive throughout the whole frequency coverage. What an awesome
radio this is. Really can't be beat for the money.

By the way, the radio has SOLD. Thanks to everyone who replied.

See ya on the bands.....

418 Texas clear.

I know what you mean about the radio. I was one of the lucky few that got
the radio with the Cobra name on it... Love it. Will NEVER part with it...

Which is the same radio as the Connex, just the "cooler" Cobra name.
Makes the radio more of a collector's piece. I sold mine becasue I
had just too many radios and something had to go. The Connex could do
40 watts on either AM or SSB, although I turned mine down to about 30
on AM (15w dead key & up to 30w during modulation) and that was just
loafing for this radio. 40w PEP on SSB all day long no problem. I
never even bothered to run an amplifier with it.

Where are you located, by the way? I'm in Dallas and go by 418. We
might be able to meet up on the air.

I talk to Michigan all the time from Texas. That's a perfect
distance. I usually run .425-.495. I'll be listening for you.
