Hello Tom: I also ran across a Emporer TS-5010, and bought the service
manual. Yes it does seem to have a slight AGC problem, and it does drift
after being turned on. But I can live with these little problems. The
AGC problem, I have a old Motorola external speaker that has a 25 ohm
audio pot and a GE-47 light bulb, that is wired into the speaker
circuit, which helps this weak/strong stations audio to equal out on
SSB, I think it's is called a Sonic Cushion. I have used this Sonic
Cushion on a lot of different radio's, and it sure helps on SSB
recption.

I haven't seen any web sites on mods and such. But the service manual
has this address and phone number on it:
(The service manual has a lower portion of the front page cut out, and a
address and phone number taped on it from the back of the front page
that reads:)

Real World Electronics, Inc.
159th & I-94 - 2nd Floor
South Holland, IL 60473
(708) 333-5683

Let me know what you find out? The Service Manual costs 29.95 from Bills
CB & 2way Radio Service at http://www.bills2way.com The manual is a
little pricey, and isn't written all that great. The manual doesn't have
a written circuit description, and only shows the typical test set ups
as if you had all the test equipment in the world. Typical hand waving
engineering from behind a desk, with a copy of company rules on the
wall. But it does have a great fold out schematic. My HR2510 schematic,
I had to enlarge from a copy machine in seperat pieces and tape
together, it doesn't look right but its kind of readable. The price you
pay for being a super CB'er.

I think the Emperor TS-5010 is a great little radio. Just needs a few
helping mods to make to run on all eight cyclenders, Ten-4.

I've seen these problems too with this rig, however it's still the
next best thing to a 2510...
