What was the cause of death, Bill?

BS> One of the pioneer DJs of Rock Radio, Allison Steel, passed away
BS> Wednesday September 27th. Allison, known as "The Nightbird",

BS> WNEW-FM in the late 60s and 70s.

Please don't deify her.

She was considered a BIG JOKE in NYC.
Anyone who was there in the 1960s remembers that she
Raved about this wonderful new group the
FLOWERS!
[AckCHOOlee it was, of course, The Stones' latest album of that name.]

Funny how, even having worked in radio for so many years, when someone
like Allison Steel dies it still affects me like I was a little
groupie of a big rock band...

I have so many great memories of lying in my bed falling asleep to her
signining on at 10:00 p.m. on WNEW-FM... "Come, fly with me, Allison
Steel.... the Night Bird.."

Peace, Allison. May those of us who remember you continue to be
challenged by your love of the medium and the music.
