Memories 96.7 is mourning the death of our morning drive host John LaBella.
John was killed in a tragic traffic accident Monday morning, March 4 just
after he finished his air shift on Memories. The accident occurred as a
tractor-trailer carrying a forklift struck the top of the Fort Worth Avenue
Bridge on Interstate 30 in Dallas. Police say the load was higher than the
bridge and as the truck tried to drive under the bridge, the forklift was
catapulted into the east bound lane of I-30 landing on LaBella's car,
killing him instantly.

John LaBella has been a morning drive radio fixture in Dallas/Fort Worth for
over 20 years with KZEW, KZPS, KRRW (Arrow 97.9), KBFB and Memories 96.7. He
was morning drive host with Memories 96.7 since the station went on the air
in November 1998.

John is survived by his wife Beth and daughter Elise.

And John was also heard nationwide, thanks to KMEO-FM being relayed over ABC's
Standards service. Do you know how many stations are playing "Unforgettable
Favourites"? And how many of those favourites you've decided to forget?

John did a lot of work for me when I was in the Air Force. I valued
what he did for me and our Country. He and Fred Hardy will be greatly
missed.
