Does anyone have experience setting one up. If so, what settings do
you recommend.
Thanks!

the limiting factor on loudness may well be your transmitter.
make sure the polarity is wired so that postitve produces positive
modulation.
if it is an older unit replacing the electrolytics may be the best idea.
monitor the modulation with an ocilloscope (forget the mod meter) set for no
flatlining at 100% negitive
gain reduction -10 to -15 dB
crank up multiband drive until you cant stand the sound then back it off.
if transmitter blows up: fix transmitter the readjust from "insane" to "less
insane"
>From experience....you set it to the settings that make it sound the way you want.
No, seriously....AM plants, being that there are so many more variables (antenna Q,
transmitter variability (iron? switchmod? Doherty?), there really isn't one setting
that can be recommended.
What I can say is this....don't go adding a lot of high-end, in the hopes of
brightening-up the sound. It'll turn to mush. Use a lot of gating. And the center
for the midrange boost should be fairly high, as what you're looking for is the
highest degree of amplitude control in the upper-midrange, so that the low end is
less squashed and thus, removed of dynamic range.

There must always be the appearance of lawfulness....especially when the law's being
broken.

For direct replies, take out the contents between the hyphens. -Really!-
I'm definitely one for brickwall AND dynamics, and have found a great
setting for just the thing you're after. The key is with AGC and
multiband. If you can separately ride your primary attacks in
multiband at about 10 or so db, this will give you your brickwall, and
create nice dynamics in silent spots with a fairly slow release on the
AGC. This is great for voice too. Again, use a gate to keep everything
clean. Keep the limiter light too.
EQ and all other settings to your taste. :)
Let us know how it goes.
