Back in the mid 80's there was a DJ on WSPK "K104" in Poughkeepsie, NY
whose on air name was Dr. John Barron- the Deacon of Love. Does
anyone know where he is now? I'm not sure when he left there, but
last year I while visiting Myrtle Beach, I thought that I heard his
voice on a local station. If anyone has any information, please post!
Thank you. Alicia_...@Interep.Com

Hopefully this message finds its way to you after your original posting in
October 1995 - my fingers are crossed! ;-)

I can't speak for who you might have heard in Myrtle Beach in 1994, but Dr.
John Barron now goes by his real name - Allan Sniffen - and is the moderat
or of the New York Radio Message Board, a bulletin board for radio enthusia
sts created in December 1997 primarily geared to the New York City radio ma
rket with some discussion about national and out-of-New York market radio.

th anniversary of the NY Radio Message Board:

Allan occasionally records an approximately 30 minute commentary on New Yor
k radio issues called "Board Reflections". After not doing them for about a
year, he has recently resumed doing them over the last few weeks (March-Ap
ril 2014).

Allan is also the webmaster/curator of the associated website http://www.mu
sicradio77.com which consists of mostly WABC Radio memorabilia with some in
formation/memorabilia included about WMCA Radio and WOR-FM/WXLO Radio.

Allan also has an associated web radio service called "Rewound Radio" which
is an oldies-based internet "station" primarily focused on 1950s-1960s-197
0s Top 40 music with a broad playlist of the classics along with some rarel
y heard tunes.

Allan hosts a live show on Rewound Radio on Saturday afternoons starting at
approximately 3 PM ET (occasionally 5 to 30 minutes earlier/later dependin
g on the length of the Rewound Radio DJ Hall of Fame Show that runs on Satu
rdays from 12 Noon ET to roughly 2:30-3:30 PM ET).

Hope this finds its way to you since it's been so long since October 1995!

Dr. John Barron now uses his real name: Allan Sniffen and in December 1997 created the New York Radio Message Board which he also moderates:
http://www.musicradio77.com/wwwboard/nyboard1.html

The message board is an offshoot of the WABC Radio memorabilia site which also has links to info about WMCA Radio and WOR-FM/WXLO Radio:

NY Daily News column by David Hinckley from December 2007 about Allan and the NY Radio Message Board:

Allan can be heard on the Board's "Board Reflections" commentary on NYC Radio topics:
http://www.musicradio77.com/boardreflections.html

And he can be heard on his web music service called "Rewound Radio" when he hosts a live show on Saturdays usually starting just before or after 3 PM ET:
