I've seen several comments recently about New York's WPIX-FM in
the late '70s. It was the best FM rocker I ever heard. Anyone
else have any thoughts on this?
Where are they now?
Meg Griffin - still doing mornings at a Westchester County,
N.Y. FM?
Joe from Chicago - Meg's (ex?) husband - last I heard at WPLR
New Haven (at least 10 years ago!)
John Ogle (News) - FM in D.C.?
Danny Neer - Last I heard at WNEW
I think Mark Simone was also there in those days. I last heard
him on the old WNEW-AM.
Who else was there?
Meg has just re-signed for another run at X107 in Westchester County, NY. Her
former hubby, Joe"From Chicago" Piasek has a recording studio in Ct. and does
loads of VO work for Nickelodean (sp?). Dan Near is back to doing weekends at
NEW-FM. Ted Bonnitt (did the weather from Cheesequake, N.J.) is in L.A.
working with what's left of Firesign Theatre. John Vidiver is doing weekends
at CD 101.9(WQCD which is new calls of WPIX). Don't know what happened to
Al Santos the A.M. drive guy. Bill Vitka (news guy) does overnight CBS radio
network newscasts. Tom Jones (weekender) is out of radio and is now
teaching in Rockland County, N.Y. Jane Hanburger is out in L.A. doing
who knows what.

For the record, John Ogle left radio to spend more time with the family and
also to pursue teaching some classes at one of the local Northern VA colleges.
He did this last year (I think).
He was working for WCPT AM 730 doing local news when they were broadcasting
the CNN Headline News Feed.

Dan-O Neer is still psrt timing it at WNEW on weekends and
has a syndicated show as well. Haven't heard from Meg, but
I think too that she is at that smaller Conn station (?).
Earl Bailey (remember him? he did the news for Dan-O in the
mornings, right? - they were a good team, funny) is on WMMR
in Philiadelphia as a DJ.
Lets see...Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, Ian Hunter, Squeeze,
Wall of Voodoo, The Kings (Switchin' To Glide), ....
I'm out of here, off to see if my old record player still
works!
The Tomes
Hey by the way, you *do* know that Vin Scelsa, who keeps
the old PIX spirit alive yet today, is back at WNEW-FM
where he belongs, right? You *are* listening on Sunday
nights, right?
