N5QXX/R: The New Orleans linked repeater that isn't

Down there in New Orleans, they brag about N5QXX as the longest echo
linked repeater. The real truth is that it isn't.

Oh yes, if you take a look in the repeater section of Echolink, you'll
find N5QXX all right, but you won't be able to link to it. Instead,
you'll get an "access denied" message, because only a small number of
people are allowed to use it.

So why is it on Echolink at all? Your guess is as good as mine,
although I tend to lean toward the explanation that the club wants
bragging rights without having to actually perform as do other linked
repeaters.

What a bunch of morons. They should be cut off from Echolink.
