Does anyone know of a list of celebrity/famous people type Amateur Radio
Operators? I can list,(pardon any spelling errors) King Hussain, Barry
Goldwater, Walter Cronkite, Roy Neal, Chet Atkins, Bon Jovi, Stu Gillam.
Could any of you add to this list? Its always nice to point these people
out to non-hams when you're doing a presentation on Ham Radio.

Bon Jovi is not a ham...his cousin(?) Tony Bon Jovi is a ham.
Tony owns 'The Power Station' recording studio in NYC.
There was an article written about him and his amateur station at the
recording studio a few years back in QST(?).

Several lists have propagated through the amateur community from time
to time often with errors. For example, some lists claim N6KGB was
actor Jimmy Stewart, when the call was really held by another
well-known actor: Stewart Granger (whose real name was James Stewart,
and who became a Silent Key in 1993). Many lists claim that Russian
cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was a ham (some lists even claim his call was
UA1LO); there is no hard evidence that he was
ever licensed. Another rumor insists that musician Jon Bon Jovi is a
ham. He is not licensed but his cousin, record producer Tony Bongiovi,
is KX2Z. Other lists indicate that musician Jose Feliciano is a ham;
WP4CO's name is definitely Jose Feliciano, but he's not the
<B>famous</B>
musician. Donny Osmond was once licensed as KA7EVD, but his license
has expired - another Donald Osmond holds the call WD4SKT, but it's
not the same person. KD6OY insists that his name is really Garry
Shankling, not Shandling, even though he lives
in Los Angeles. And WA7WYV's name is indeed Andy Griffith, but he's
never played either Andy of Mayberry or Matlock on television.
