And

General 13-wpm Morse Code
With Theory Review
(Sat/Sun)

April 16th, 17th and 18th

No-Code Technician Class - 4/16 (evening), 4/17 and 4/18
========================

Location: West Side Police Sub-Station, Costa Mesa, CA

Have you always been interested in ham radio, but been put off by the
Morse code requirement? Well, now you don't have to learn *any* Morse code
to get your license! Earn your entry level "Technician No-Code" amateur
radio license in one weekend! Use ham radio to stay in touch with fellow
hams as you travel across the county, or across the world. Use ham radio
phone patches to keep in touch with family and friends when using a
regular phone system is inconvenient or impossible. As a ham, you can even
help your community's disaster preparedness group by volunteering your
communications expertise and equipment!

This fun and entertaining two-and-a-half day class starts on Friday
afternoon and covers everything you need to get your Federal
Communications Commission No-Code Technician license. Take the two
multiple-choice exams right there in class and get your callsign two or
three days later! Students who pre-register will receive the Gordon West
"No-Code Technician Plus" textbook, theory cassettes, and a special
pre-study package. The class fee includes nineteen hours of tuition,
beverages, lunch on both days, a barbecue on Saturday night, and a special
Saturday night after-class workshop detailing installation and use of ham
radio equipment in houses, cars, RVs and even boats. Attend the class, and
stand-by for one of the best educational experiences you'll ever have! Oh
yes, someone needs to bring a fresh pickle to class! :-)

Students that pre-register for class will receive the exclusive Home Study
Package that includes Gordo's book, valuable gift certificates and
pre-class homework assignments.

General 13-wpm Morse Code with Theory Review Class - 4/17 and 4/18
=================================================

Location: West Side Police Sub-Station, Costa Mesa, CA

Are you a terminal tech? Have you tried to pass the General Class code
test before on your own? Have you "hit the wall" at 10-WPM and need help
over the "plateau"? The General Class code weekend course is your answer
to the Technician Class blues! The new "no code" license offers no
privileges for worldwide communications. You will need the General
class ticket for worldwide voice DX. Gain voice privileges on 10m, 12m,
15m, 17m, 20m, 40m 75m and 160m! Build your code speed up to 5-6-WPM now,
then pass the 13-WPM, or even the 20-WPM code test in class on Sunday 17th
April! This is the fun and stress-free way to upgrade.

This class is for hams that want to upgrade to the General Class license,
but like many people, find the 13wpm Morse Code requirement their biggest
stumbling block! Make 1999 your year to upgrade. Don't let the Code hold
you back any longer, the Worldwide HF bands are waiting for you. Your
instructor will take you from a shaky 5-wpm all the way up to 13-wpm, or
higher, in preparation for your exam on Sunday afternoon! Techniques to
help you pass the CW exam will be taught, and there will be multiple
demonstrations showing just how easy it is for YOU to pass the 13-wpm, or
even the 20-wpm code exam! Theory review sessions are held throughout the
two days to help make passing the written exam even easier. Students that
pre-register will receive the Gordon West "General Class" textbook,
Gordo's exclusive CW tapes, and a special pre-study package. The class fee
includes sixteen hours of tuition, beverages and lunch on both days and a
barbecue on Saturday evening. General Class students join Gordo and his
No-Code Technician class for an operating session and workshop dedicated
to installing, using and maintaining ham radio equipment.

Only Prerequisite: All students must be able to copy code at 5-WPM prior
to coming to class.

Students that preregister for class will receive:

o Home study package consisting of CW tapes, book and
computer software
o Audio tapes for home study
o Sample test preparation exams, just like the real thing
o Multiple code test-passing opportunities

--==--

*Both* weekend courses include:
o Beverages, snacks and lunches
o Saturday night "Operating Session" with Gordon West
o Multiple live demonstrations
o Multiple examination passing opportunities

For full details on either of the classes described above, please call
Gordon West at (714) 549-5000 between 10am and 4pm, Monday through Friday.

Dear Julian,

>>>> Gordon West Radio School Presents Classes For:...(snip)<<<

Just what southern California needs...more Gordon West trained operators
on the repeaters.

Aren't you guys tired of the crap on most of the repeaters out there
already without letting that jerk load 'em up with more half trained,
unexperienced operrators?

Gordo and Julian do an excellent job of training responsible operators.
I ended up becoming a VE and a DCS volunteer. Thanks again Julian for
the November class!

Many have. It's a major contributor to why ham radio is dying today.

Ooooh, that sounds simply WUNDERFULLL!

Far out! How much does it cost?

Wonderful...but the class...how much does it cost?

Um, I hate to be repetitive here...but could you give me an idea of the cost?

But...you just told me above how WUNDERFULLL that no-code Technician license
was. Now you're saying it isn't any good and I have to acquire this instead?
Me is confused!

Of course the easiest way (and the cheapest) would be to wait a few months
until the CW requirement is lowered to 5WPM across the board. Even the
holdouts in Oldington have signed on now, so it shouldn't be long at all.

Yes! Porkbutt, Hanoi Dan, Dumba** Donnie, Oris, Sir Sidney, Walter Barstool,
etc., are all waiting to welcome you with open arms! Enjoy the nightly jamming
contests, profanity, threats, and slander on those WUNDERFULLL "Worldwide HF
bands!"

NOW are you going to tell me what all of this costs?

Um...cost? Expense? Fees? How much? Dinero? Lira?

How about cheap whiskey (essential for sustained operation on 75 meters.) Is
that provided, too?

Cool! Call the long-distance number and MAYBE they'll tell you the cost.
Gosh, darn...where do I sign up?

"Where's that big 'ol CB RAMBO??"
"I wanna hear him TALK TOUGH!!"
