Possible answer #1: "all parts". Every part of the dipole plays a
role in reception.

Possible answer #2: "the same parts that transmit". The principle of
reciprocity says (to simplify it) that an antenna's pattern of RF
emissions (when transmitting) and sensitivity (when receiving) are one
and the same, and that the relationships between the currents flowing
through the antenna when transmitting and receiving are the same.
