That's an excellent idea. Because the UPS could be used as an inverter
for your station, powering items that will not run on 12V, you could add
a *FEW* batteries in parallel, and have a station that will stay powered
during the longest power outage. Calculate your average ah usage during
an average day, and current limit a trickle charge circuit delivering 5%
overcharge, and you'll always have topped off batteries in the event of
an extended need.
