Anyone have any info on homebrewing a repeater controller?
Only need basic features: CW ID, time out timer, courtesy tone and
squelch tail.

Please contact me if you can share some info.

Thanks

The february '97 issue of QST has an article starting on page 37 that
describes such a project. The only [small :) ] downside I see is that
you either have to buy or program your own microcontroller for the
project. I wish I'd seen this article before I bought Spectrum
Electronic's "HRC-10 Handheld repeater controller" - although the HRC is
a lot easier to program!

VK5EX (Andrew McDade) here in Adelaide has a very good controller based
on the 68HC11 micro. It does what you need and he has done a PC board
for it. I don't think he's currently on internet but if you want I can
pass messages to him. He can be contacted on AX.25 packet to
VK5EX@VK5TTY.#ADL.#SA.AUS.OC - I'm sure he wouldn't mind a packet
message from you.

Cheers,

Be sure to check out the February issue of QST. They have a repeater
controller with a voice synthesizer, remote programmability, CW ID,
and more for about $60 bucks, if you build it.

You might check out the latest QST... there was an article in there on
someone's homebrew controller. Seemed to have some pretty decent features,
and was based on one of the PIC microcontrollers. Source code was available
on the net, as is the manual, etc. for it. A partial kit was available for
$30 + ship, and included the u-processor and a couple of odd IC's. All
other parts were available from Digikey, I believe.
Anyway, I've ordered one, but haven't got it yet. If you're interested, I
do have the designer's e-mail address (I'd post it, but I don't know it
off the top o' my head :-) ) or I can let you know how it goes together
when I get it. Hope it helps!
