Hello!

Anyone out there building my Optimist-80 DSB QRP transceiver?

Some builders have reported problems with VFO tuning. I have added a new
page to my DIY QRP Corner with updated VFO information.

Good Luck!

P.S.

My distance record is about 1000 km with the Optimist-80, SM <-> G, using a
dipole 3 meters up! With 500 mW per sideband that's 2000 km / Watt on 80
meter phone!!!

Dear Johan,

I have built 2 Optimist 80, both of them are funtioning very well with cca 800 mW. The rigs were aligned with Tektronics for best carrier suppression. The final transistor is changed with SC2166, but it can not put out more than 1 watt without distortion. Emitter resistor is 2 nos 2o2 resistors 1 watt parallel. PRedriver is also SC1108 original old japanese transistor. With BD137 did not worked.
