You are aware that the King HT radios can be programmed with the little
outboard "code plug" aren't you? It merely jumpers a couple contacts on the
speaker/mic jack at the appropriate time.

How do I make/use one .

Also What would the programmable frequency range be for this radio?

The program range is whatever the radio is spec'd at. As far as which two
pins to short, I would need to find a manual and look it up. Also, my
statement is specifically in reference to the EPH model HT. I just now
realized you cited a different model. This may not be applicable.

I'm also looking for programming info for a Bendix/King radio, the model
number is LMH 3142. This is a VHF high band mobile 16 channel radio.
I also need details on the required modifications to get this radio to
accept programming for frequencies below 148MHz (its current lower limit).

Anyone got any info on this radio?

Programming the King reQuires the software and a
interface cable contact

Strine Electronics in Seeley LAke Mt

I cant remeber what it set me back but it was not
much
The programm for Ham coverage is "Ham and Eggs"
It may be on the net

Typing in "ham" changes the center frequency so 146
programming
Typing "Eggs" returns the radio to default settings

Does this apply to other Bendix/King radios as well? I recently
acquired a pair of LPH 5142 14-channel portables, and was told that
there was a fairly simple mod that would allow them to operate on 2
meters. If this can be accomplished by software instead of hardware, so
much the better.

I got a copy of most of the programming manual with the radios, but am
missing a couple parts. I'd also like to obtain a copy of the user's
manual for this radio. Is it possible to obtain these directly from
King, or is there a better source?

Thanks,

There is a file that allows the VCO to operate on the amateur
band, you need the programming cable and the correct s/w file
referred to "green eggs and ham" for vhf and for uhf, you
"downband" the radio via the s/w.
