Need a service manual for a Radio Shack MTA-20 Digital SWR/Power Meter
Radio Shack doesn't carry them any longer..

If you go to www.radioshack.com then you can use their search engine
to find documentation for all sorts of current and discontinued
products.

Use variations on the model number, such as MTA-20, MTA20, and also
the Radio Shack stock number, etc as it has them listed under
variations.

Thanks, I didn't find the manual, but I did find a phone number to Radio
shack parts and they had it.. my local store said it was no longer
available.. go figure!!..

I've had good luck with many RS manuals on there, although I seem to
do better with the stock number as a search term.

The website/warehouse seems to have different stock than the retail
stores, and the left hand/right hand thing is in effect.

I'm now looking for the same, but could really use, perhaps mostly, the info. on calibration as I may have fixed the remote sensor/coupler, but now need to know details on calibration, esp. probable adj. cap (pot?)location, etc. I'll also

quoting, which is 10 years ago, almost to the day.

Do you really think Tim is still reading this newsgroup? He may not even
have the thing anymore, a lot can happen in a decade.

If you want something, then just start a thread. Don't use google's bug
to reply to threads older than 30 days, you're just dredging up the past
and confusing people who haven't yet figured out that idiots are replying
to old messages. Google is merely an archive of usenet, they are making a
mess of usenet but don't think the rest of us like it.

Michael please,
Usually I am the one to come off sounding like a jerk..
The magic of the internet is that you can do a search and can find the
most likely results.

I believe that the story is that the new poster is asking for similar
advice.

IN the service repair buisness, we often times find that we cannot find
a manual.
About the best you can do is connect it to a dummy load and calibrate it
or connect it to a antenna analyzer and calibrate it.

The biggest problem with the Radio crap - oops I mean shack stuff was
that it was not very high quality. It appeased the cheap ham and cbr
which made it affordable but not very reliable.

So ask the seller for the manual.

Or do a websearch, sometimes the Radio Shack website has manuals, though I
don't know the criteria of why something is included, and something
excluded.

But don't reply to an 11 year old message, chances are close to zero that
the poster is still around. You could have tried emailing the guy, but
chances are good he doesnt' even have the same email address after 11
years.

And don't reply to an 1l year old mesage and not include a "re:" in the
subject header, it looked like you were starting a new thread.

And don't reply to an 11 year old mesage and then not quote what you are
replying to. Google is not usenet, and for the rest of us, we don't see
the previous messages on some neat little webpage. The only reason I know
that you've fouled up and replied to an old message via google is context.
