Karl- I bought one of these new in 1984. About 170 dollars then. I have used it very extensively both on the BCB and 90 and 60 meters SW. I have always considered it a very good DX tool. Many, many S and C Americans on MW and most domestic
Africans on SW. Made some truly amazing tapes of Zambia and Botswana in Kansas
about 8 years ago. Other info that I can provide is that the cost of materials
for the antenna have gone up considerably. I just got the new catalog fro
Amidon Associates ( the only supplier that I know of for the ferrite rods ) and
they are up to 15 bucks a pop. The antenna uses 6. I believe that Ralph
Sanserino of the IRCA was the designer and builder of the RW loop. He may i
fact still make them. Might be worth a letter to him at IRCA. I wouldn't have
a clue what one would sell for, but in my opinion, it would be worth at least
125 bucks. One other thing, if you get one and it looks as though the rods have
been broken and glued back together, don't worry. You had to glue them together
when it was new, and I must have broken the rods 20 times moving it around the
country, and it never seemed to hurt it. 73 Carl
