Quad or Quagi?

Hi all,
I will soon be building a 3 or 4 element 2 meter antenna for use on
mountaintop trips, VHF contests, and other such things. I like the Quad
design, because of the relatively easy matching, but also thought about
the "Quagi" design. I don't feel like dealing with a Yagi and the matching
section necessary, so that's not up for discussion. My question is, what is
the performance difference between a Quad and a Quagi of the same number of
elements? Since I want to make a portable antenna, the Quagi, with less
material, would seem to be better from a weight/size viewpoint. But are
there any performance differences between the two?
