The 440 instruction manual instructs one to plug the jumper to
enable the auxillary relay to key an amp.
All i did was, set the jumper and then plugged in the 7pin connector,
powered up,
put the radio in CW and keyed to a dummy.
The radio clicked and all was fine and i saw no voltages on the relay
key line. After doing this a few times, the radio seems to be
stuck in the transmit mode. NO AMP was involved.
The "ON AIR" led is lit when i power the rig on. There is no audio from
the receiver since it is cut off.
If i transmit either SSB or CW, there is no relay click and the rig puts
out full power.
I reset the processor and found that the amp keying relay is
in transmit mode all the time as soon as i power the rig.
So i am wondering if someone could help me locate the component ,
probably
in the IF or Control module , that is responsible for switching the
radio from
the RX to TX modes. It could be an open transistor ????
My guess is that it simply cannot be the relay .Its gotta be the
control signal,
putting the rig in the xmit mode, the "ON AIR" led is also on.
I have done a processor reset. Not murphys playing around. What am i
missing
in short of selling the rig, sending it to kenwood ????
I will have a service manual on hand by the end of this week.
I appreciate any tips.
thanks
