Hi,

I am rebuilding/cleaning our clubs portable 2M antenna, I would like to know
the assembly details. It was handed to me in parts, and there is no
paperwork.

The boom has red, and black end caps (Is RED the Front) ?

The elements taper, is it longest is the reflector, and shortest director,
in order reducing f size ?

When the driven element is mounted on the boom, does the matching stub (U
shaped bar) face towards front or back of antenna ? and what is the correct
way up (is it coax hangs down below the boom, or is it above the boom ) ?

Finally depending on the answer to the previous question, do the elements
mount on top of the boom (eg wing nuts below) ? or Visa Versa ?

Regards

Alan G8XLH.

You're in luck Alan, I've just re-assembling my F9FT and have the
instruction book open in front of me.

Black is at the rear.

Yes.

Yes, the gamma-match faces to the front of the antenna. It is assembled
BELOW the boom, with the wingnut on the top. (Remember to create the
required matching loop with the coax: "Make a small loop of coax coming down
from the connection and back to the boom; tape to boom. This eliminates the
need for an external balun." - quoted from manual.)

Elements go through the boom - or at least they do with mine. Each element
will have a threaded section in the middle. You feed the element through the
boom, and then secure with the nuts. (If your's mount above/below the boom,
then it's a slightly different model - in that case, I'd mount them the same
as the driven element. i.e. below.)
