But I CAN comment on an experiment that I just tried. I have a
Motorola V60g 1900MHZ GSM cell phone. In my office at work, I either
have "NO SERVICE" displayed, or at most 1 bar of signal on the digital
meter (I realize this means very little, but bear with me a bit...)
I opened up the battery compartment, took out the battery, and
inserted a paperclip, cut to about 2.5" so it would fit the
compartment. I aligned the clip with the antenna stub. No actual
connection was made to anything; I just dropped the clip into the
battery compartment. I replaced the battery, closed the phone, and
woooooaaaaahhh: I have 2 bars of signal where I had "NO SERVICE"
before, and 3 bars where there used to be 1.
I even made a phone call to a friend who said "you are breaking up a
bit", but when I moved to the 3 bar area they said "oh, now you sound
fine".
Sooooo.... Rather than spend even $0.50 (or the unconscionable
$29.95!), try a paper clip first!
Regards,
Dave
PS: If you are unable to find paperclips in your area, email me
off-group with your credit card number and I will ship you one for
$29.95 plus $5.95 shipping and handling. If you act now, I'll throw
in a second paper clip for free!
bananaman,
I just gotta say, you're all heart, man...
