I am interesting in antenna for HF/DF sets (eg. FH3/FH4) on English and
American War Ship during II WW. Such equipment was called "HUFF DUFF". What
is the type of antennas? How it work? What about errors in presence of
skywave? Any pictures or View pls via sp2...@polbox.com Thanks Roman Buja.

The device was a rotating coil called a goniometer (Not sure of spelling) it
consisted of 2 orthogonal coils with a rotating coil in the center. The output
was taken from the fixed coils and represented the sine and cosine of the angle
of the rotating coil.

The fixed coils were aligned fore and aft, and athwart ship. The output was
then a position relative to the ships bow. The ships course could then be added
algebraically to determine true bearing.
