Anyone out there have any recent experience with Airborne Antenna Systems
for Military UHF DAMA SatCom ? Please note the keyword "DAMA" (a form of
TDMA) as the higher burst rates require a better SNR (sorry, read that as
"Eb / No") than the previously used dedicated channel systems. I'm looking
for some clear information regarding antenna gain versus maximum reliable
burst rates (there are many other variables in the link budget equation, but
they are all fixed values for the most part based on the "givens" inherent
in the system). It all seems to come down to antenna gain (for any
particular mode). Previous analysis have provided some guidance, but the
remaining uncertainties are sufficiently large that a clear data point based
on experience would provide more value than the analysis.

If you have any experience in this area and would like to discuss off-line,
please contact me.
