First, blast to your past with this cool Spirograph-esque site.
www.soundofdesign.com/07_360/index.html/

After playing with it for about 20 minutes (5 of which were spent figuring it out), I noticed that I could not find any patterns that were not complete in either one or two rotations. Is this just an artifact of my random searching, or is it true? And if it is, can anyone explain why all the patterns appear to have a period of 360° or 720° only, but not more?

Thanks

All patterns with an odd number complete in two rotations,
all patterns with an even number complete in one rotation.

Needs the final / removed.

Not sure how to prove it, but this is probably a result of both
rotations (earth around sun, moon around earth) being integer
multiples of 1°.
