1. What country's name is an anagram of the name of the capital city
of another country?

2. What two places, each either a dependent territory (colony etc.)
or an independent country, have capital cities whose names contain
all of the same letters and in the same order?

Similar question:

What two major cities in the same country have names that are anagrams
of each other?

In the spirit of the subject line: it's not Washington and Gnashitown.

It is...

Very good. This is the answer I was looking for. The other answers given
in the thread do not give the names of two major cities, even if you
don't actually rearrqange the letters in the names.

BTW, it's not entirely a coincidence that Tokyo and Kyoto have the same
letters. "Kyo" means capital in both names.

Tokyo and Okyto, but it probably doesn't hold in Japanese.
