GROUP A = Cyprus, Hong Kong, Japan

GROUP B = USA, China, Egypt, Kuwait, Norway

What is this grouping?
If you think you know the answer, post another member in a group (A or B).

I thought I had an idea for your rule but Hong Kong is not a nation.
It is a Special Administrative Region. Further, the Hong Kong SAR is less than 50% islands.

No thanks. Not after the "Groups of nations A and B" puzzle I replied to was manipulated post-reply,
by adding two city names to the lists without notice or explanation.

1. Why might a poster object to changes in a post he responded to?
2. How long will Hen wait before posting the rule used for the grouping of nations?

b) Two months
c) One year

i'm glad to know that... such Hyper-Obsessive attention to THAT detail would have been obviously unwarrented
beucause my initial Problem-statement included Hong Kong in GroupA and China in the other group.... Whew!!!!

Sometimes the only way to learn about what goes into a grouping is to find out what does not.
Why might a puzzle poster object to how I added possible members to the groups?
