Yes, I know how to solve a Rubic Cube.....I was so bored one
summer I found the solution book and memorized all the
moves used to solve the cube....

In regards to your question, the solution book says to solve
the cube it takes six steps...

1) place and situate the top layer middle edge pieces
2) place and situate the top layer corner pieces
3) place and situate the second layer edge pieces
4) place the bottom layer edge pieces
5) situate the bottom layer edge pieces
6) place the bottom layer corner pieces
7) situate the bottom layer corner pieces

place means get the correct piece in the right spot, and
situate means to rotate that piece in its spot to the right
orientation. In steps 1-3 placing and situating can be done
in the same step but in the bottom layer, they must be done
in separate step in order to preserve what you have already
done.

You can probably find the solution book in a book store
somewhere if you want....(it helps, I can solve the cube in
at most three minutes).

Good luck

I think that's SEVEN steps, but no big deal.

The solution you've outlined is reasonable but I don't think it is
the fastest way. The solution I use may have come from a solution
book or maybe an amalgam of multiple books:

- Position and color align the top corners
- Position the bottom corners
- Color align the bottom corners
- Position and color align all but one top edge pieces
- Position and color align all but one bottom edge pieces
- Position and color align the two remaining top/bottom edge pieces
- Position the center edge pieces
- Color align the center edge pieces

I can consistently solve the cube in under two minutes with this
method and quite often I've done it in under one minute.

Interestingly, there are only 4 moves you need to know to completely
solve any 3x3 cube. They are:

- swap the location of two adjacent corner pieces
(8 twists, disturbs edge pieces on the same face)
- change the color alignment of three corner pieces while leaving
them in the same location
(8 twists, disturbs edge pieces on the same face)
- exchange location of three edge pieces
(4 twists, does not disturb other pieces)
- change the color alignment of two edge pieces
(12 twists, does not disturb other pieces)

By twisting various parts of the cube to bring the cubes you are
trying to change into the proper position for the above moves then
reversing those twists after the move, the 4 moves are sufficient to
solve the cube. This will solve the cube but it is not as fast as
the method I outlined above.

The way I do it is:

Make a 2x2x2 cube look right, ie 1 corner-piece and 3 side-pieces adjacent
to it.
Then extend it to 2x2x3, then to 2x2x3, which takes care of 2 layers,
leaving the top face.
So far, you don't need any formulas, just straightforward visualization and
logic.
For the top layers, I first get all the side-pieces in their right
places, and right alignment.
Then I do the corners, likewise, which wouldn't affect the sides.

The process shouldn't take any longer than 2 minutes.
